Sierra Wireless gets FCC approval

Sierra Wireless got Federal Communications Commission approval Thursday for its AirCard 710 Wireless Network Card. The approval will allow the wireless modem meant for personal computers to be sold in the United States, according to a Sierra Wireless spokesman. The AirCard 710 is similar to a wireless modem from Novatel Wireless. Both modems work on cell phone networks that use General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) technology. AT&T Wireless and Cingular Wireless have introduced their GPRS networks in Seattle and several other U.S. cities.
