Short Take: Sony VAIO PCs bundled with Excite@Home

Excite@Home, a high-speed Internet access provider, and Sony Electronics have signed an agreement to offer a pre-loaded demonstration version of the @Home cable modem service on all new Sony VAIO personal computers. The deal will begin with the fall 2000 Sony product launch and includes VAIOs sold in retail stores. The deal is intended to expand Excite@Home's distribution efforts as the company strives to meet lofty subscriber target goals. Under the deal, VAIO users with a dial-up Internet connection will be able to check the availability of the @Home service in their neighborhood.
