Short Take: Road Runner, Cisco work toward self installs

Road Runner, a high-speed cable modem service, and data networking giant Cisco Systems are collaborating on a self-provisioning product which will eventually allow new Road Runner customers to activate the service with much less effort. Using Cisco's new Cisco Subscriber Registration Center hardware and software package, Road Runner expects to begin trials of the auto-install technology on its MediaOne cable systems during the third quarter, according to a spokeswoman.
