Marimba announced the general availability of Castanet, which enables the distribution and automatic maintenance of software applications and content "channels" across the Internet and within corporate networks; and of Bongo, a visual interface builder for Java applications that enables the development of media-rich Castanet channels. Castanet and Bongo run on Windows NT 4.0, Windows 95 and Solaris 2.5; Mac OS-compatible versions are currently in alpha testing. Pricing for the Castanet Transmitter starts at $1,000; Bongo is available for $495.
