Short Take: Lucent to test new wireless telephony technology

Lucent Technologies announced it will test new wireless networking technology that will allow users to make Internet-based phone calls over a campus network without sacrificing voice quality, the company claims. The technology, developed by Lucent's Bell Labs research arm, is being tested at the University of Maryland in College Park and the Penobscot Bay Medical Center in Maine. It wil also be demonstrated at next week's Supercomm communications industry trade show.
