Short Take: ISP revenue will near $23 billion, study says

U.S. Internet service provider revenue will total nearly $23 billion this year after revenue increased 67 percent in 1999, according to a new study from International Data Corp., a major market research firm. IDC marveled at the continued dominance of America Online in the consumer ISP segment and UUNet in the business ISP market. IDC expects continued consolidation in the consumer ISP segment, and the study predicts value-added ISP service revenue will top consumer ISP revenue by 2002.
