Short Take: Hitachi, Lucent unit team for IP

Hitachi Semiconductor and a Lucent Technologies subsidiary, called Elemedia, are teaming up to develop Internet telephony technology for businesses and consumers. The pair will incorporate Hitachi's processors with Elemedia's software to create traditional phone network-to-Internet protocol (IP) gateways.
