Short Take: Covad gets investments from AT&T, Nextlink

Competitive Local Exchange Carrier (CLEC) Covad Communications received a $25 million investment from AT&T Ventures, the venture capital arm of AT&T, and a separate $20 million investment from Nextlink Communications. The deals call for AT&T and Nextlink to resell Covad's digital subscriber line (DSL) high-speed Internet service and allows Covad to "co-locate" in the companies' central offices, effectively storing DSL networking equipment at their facilities.
