Short Take: Convergent closes third financing round

Start-up Convergent Networks closed a third-round of venture funding for $40 million, adding investors VantagePoint Venture Partners and Worldview Technology Partners. The company has collected a total of $57 million in funding as it develops and sells a networking switch for voice and data traffic. Other investors include Battery Ventures, Matrix Partners and North Bridge Venture Partners.
