Cisco Systems announced it has pledged $1 million over the next five years to create the Jon Postel Center for Experimental Networking. The memorial lab will reside at the University of Southern California. The donation will include sponsorship of a "visiting scholar" position, a "fellowship" position, as well as supporting staff. Postel was an early Net pioneer who died suddenly in October of 1998.
