Short Take: Cisco debuts hardware for data-over-cable market

Cisco Systems announced a new product line for the emerging data-over-cable market. The hardware, which includes the MCNS-compliant uBR 7246 Universal Broadband Router and modem cards, can support bandwidth of up to 600 mbps, with switching capacity of 100,000 packets per second. The router is based on the company's 7200 router. Pricing and availability of the equipment will be announced in the first quarter of next year.
