Short Take: AOL to increase rates for online brokerages

America Online plans to raise the fee it charges electronic brokerages displayed in its personal finance section to $12 million a year from between $3 million and $4 million, according to Bloomberg. The fee increase is part of a plan to cut the number of brokerages AOL promotes to four from eight. An estimated 5 million people regularly use the ISP's personal finance section.
