Short Take: 3Com unveils Internet faxing technology

3Com unveiled technology that allows people to send and receive faxes over the Internet. The fax-over-Internet protocol (IP) technology allows users to send and receive both faxes and email from their email software. The technology, called Total Control, is aimed at service providers, who in turn would provide the service to corporations. 3Com also said two carriers have signed on to use Total Control. Open Data Network, Japan Telecom's Internet service provider, and Batelco, a telco based in Bahrain, have agreed to use the technology.
