Keio University in Tokyo has become a
host for the World Wide Web Consortium
(W3C), a standards group for the multimedia portion of the Internet known as
the World Wide Web. The Japanese institution, which represents Japanese and
Korean interests, joins Massachusetts
Institute of Technology and the French
National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Control (INRIA)
as hosts. Keio's Tatsuya Hagino will lead Keio's involvement. Web inventor
Tim Berners-Lee is director of the W3C, working from at MIT's Laboratory for Computer Science.
