German audio giant Sennheiser is further foraying into retail with its first directly-run outlet at Marina Square, a shopping mall located in sunny Singapore.

The country's retail sector is going through something of a slump, but Sennhesier has a new deal that may help beat the retail woes.

Customers who are interested in trying out new headphones can rent a pair for a week by paying a S$200 ($150) security deposit. A total of four models are available to choose from. They are the HD 800 S, HD 650, HD 630VB and the Momentum Wireless.

Additionally, new headphones from the brand will be released first at the store, the company said.

Having long depended on a distributorship model for its audio products around the world, the company's first directly-run retail store is a bid to "connect directly with its customers."

Time will tell if taking the Apple Store approach will pay off for Sennheiser -- and if the company will bring this promotion or more stores to the rest of the world.
