MicroSD cards to come in 4GB capacities; tiny adapter lets cell phones read mini, micro or full-size SD cards.
SanDisk used the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, to show off its latest storage gadgets. The company's microSD cards will now come in capacities up to 4GB, a storage equivalent of 1,000 MP3 files, according to SanDisk.
The company also revealed a tiny kit that allows microSD cards to be used in cell phones, no matter what type of slot the phone has. The SanDisk Multi SD Kit, available in March in the U.S., consists of a microSD card with a miniSD adapter and a standard SD card adapter.
Pricing is not available yet, but SanDisk announced that the kit will come in 512MB, 1GB or 2GB capacities. The Multi SD Kit is not restricted to phones but works with devices such as digital cameras and MP3 players that have SD card slots.
