Samsung Galaxy S4 landing on six U.S. carriers
Samsung confirms the Galaxy S4 smartphone will arrive on six American cellular providers starting in April.
In a big show of marketing force, Samsung announces its latest mega smartphone, the Galaxy S4, will hit six U.S. cellular networks beginning in April 2013. Indeed, AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Cricket, U.S. Cellular, and Verizon plan to sell Samsung's latest creation starting next month.
That's no mean feat, since other device makers such as HTC and BlackBerry seem to have found a unified launch like this to be a huge stumbling block. Still, the Galaxy S4 won't arrive on all American carriers at once. Samsung told CNET that its new flagship phone will roll out starting in April, but its partners may get on board as late as May 2013.
As far as specific dates are concerned, that still remains a mystery. T-Mobile is keeping mum and merely pointing to its pre-order site whereas Sprint will only fess up to Galaxy S4 availability in Q2 and that "additional details, including pricing, will be shared in the coming weeks." AT&T is also tight-lipped, stating only that it is "excited to bring the Galaxy S4 to the nation's fastest 4G LTE network." Additionally, Verizon hasn't uttered a peep outside of what Samsung has stated, but U.S. Cellular has confirmed it will offer the device.
All carriers involved have not disclosed pricing for the Samsung Galaxy S4 yet, though a $199.99 price wouldn't be out of line since that's the magic number that the successful GS3 sold for. Stay tuned as we learn more about this very capable smartphone.
