Qwest Communications International, a major local and long-distance phone and Internet company, will begin offering gigabit Ethernet network services to business customers during the second half of the year. Qwest will tap its partnership with Telseon, a gigabit Ethernet provider, to provide services in Chicago; Washington, D.C.; Dallas; Los Angeles; New Jersey; New York; and San Jose, Calif.
Gigabit Ethernet is a networking technology that promises faster Internet connections at lower costs. Ethernet also is purportedly easier to manage and maintain than some other networking alternatives. Qwest plans to offer Net access at speeds ranging from 2mbps to 1gbps.
