Plan B to launch O2 4G with live online show on 29 August

Chart-topper Plan B plays live to celebrate O2's new 4G super-fast mobile network going live on 29 August.

Oi -- I said oi! What you looking at? A live gig by Plan B to switch on O2 4G, that's what.

Chart-topper Plan B plays a launch gig at the O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire to celebrate O2's new super-fast mobile network going live on 29 August.

The rapper and Sweeney actor, who went to number one with albums The Defamation of Strickland Banks and ill Manors, takes to the stage in London for a show that will also be broadcast across the city and online.

The show will be livestreamed as a silent disco to Kings Cross and Victoria stations and west London enormomall Westfield, where throughout the day buskers will play songs requested on Twitter and O2 show-offs will show off 4G to passers-by.

Tickets to be in the crowd at the Empire are available from 9am on Wednesday 21 August for O2 customers through, then on Friday 23 for the rest of us.

And if you're not in London, you can enjoy Plan B's set on the O2 Academy TV YouTube channel from 8pm on 29 August, which is a Thursday and is just over two weeks away.

Following the show, Soundhalo, which records live gigs and lets you buy tracks through an app, will make a track from the gig available for free to O2 customers.

O2's 4G network is only available in the capital at first. Rival network Vodafone will launch its 4G service on the same day, and although O2 has yet to reveal any prices we've compared Vodafone's 4G deals with the current 4G frontrunner EE.

Are you excited about O2 4G? Will you be tuning into Plan B's show? Tell me your thoughts in the comments or on our exceedingly well-planned Facebook page.
