Photos: Sony E-series Walkman cheers up IFA

Sony's colourful new E-series Walkman MP3 players take away many of the features of the top-end S series, but still rock an awesome screen and video playback. We've got the dirt

If Sony's new S-series MP3 player didn't excite you like a feather to the satchel, fear not! There's another new player. There's only one problem: it's pretty much the S series, but with the cool stuff stripped out.

We jest, we jest. The new E-series models are sweet little players, boasting a 51mm (2-inch) screen, support for MP3, AAC, both protected and unprotected WMA files, WMV, H.264 and MPEG-4 SP video.

There's also an integrated FM radio, JPEG photo support, a pretty decent 45 hours of music playback from a single charge, and they'll be available in 4GB and 8GB capacities.

Expect hands-on reports later this week as we peruse the IFA floors here in Berlin. Exact UK launch dates and prices are vague, but UK shops should begin stocking around September. Click through for more photos. -Nate Lanxon

As the picture adequately explains itself, the E series comes in a range of colours.

Stylish brushed aluminium encases the entire line of E-series players.
