Onetta nets $56 million in financing

Onetta, an optical-network component maker, received $56 million in Series B funding led by HarbourVest Partners. Sumitomo, JPMorgan H&Q, J&W Seligman, Sequoia Capital and Matrix Partners contributed to the round of financing. Onetta, led by Chief Executive Dennis Barsema, formerly of Redback Networks, manufactures high-end optical amplifiers and "intelligent optical engines" for optical-equipment makers and service providers. The company's products are intended to make networks faster and more economical to operate.
