AT&T, T-Mobile, and MetroPCS are the first US carriers to throw support behind the new Nokia Lumia 365 , one of three new Windows Phone 8.1 handsets that Nokia announced Wednesday at Microsoft Build in San Francisco.

While the exact ship dates aren't yet determined, the carriers did promise the Lumia 635 sometime in the US and broadly this summer. Nokia said the 635 will cost $179 off-contract, though the carriers are likely to announce their own pricing structures along with the release date.

The Lumia 635, along with the new Lumia 630 and Lumia 930 , will be the first to ship with the newly announced Windows Phone 8.1 update right out of the box. The 635 and 630 are Nokia's more affordable options.

"We have been successful not only in innovating our flagship products, but we have also worked very hard to take that innovation to lower and lower price points," said Nokia chief Stephen Elop, during his keynote at Microsoft's conference.

The phone comes in five colors, with a 4.5-inch screen and 4G LTE capabilities. The revamped Windows Phone 8.1 update will bring with it Microsoft's new virtual assistant Cortana , a rival to Apple's Siri and Google Now.

Microsoft agreed to buy Nokia's devices and services business in September for $7.2 billion. The deal is expected to close in April.
