A SIM card from AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile or Verizon is your ticket to using Motorola's G4 and G4 Plus, which sell unlocked in the US.

Motorola is bringing its pair of super-budget-friendly phones, the G4 and G4 Plus, to the US. They cost $200 and $250, respectively, which are highly competitive prices. In contrast, the OnePlus 3, which CNET editor Lynn La just declared the budget phone winner, costs about $400.

Unlike the upcoming Moto Z, which will be exclusive to Verizon here, these unlocked devices will work with all carriers using the GSM and CDMA technologies -- that's AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon and all their prepaid brands, too. This means you can add a SIM card from all these carriers to start using the G4 or G4 Plus.

But don't expect to find the G4 and G4 Plus selling with most carriers. The phones will launch on July 12 from Motorola.com, Best Buy and Amazon.com, as well as Walmart, Sam's Club, Fry's and B&H, among a few other retailers.

One exception is Republic Wireless, a Wi-Fi first carrier that will sell the duo on July 28 (the G4 Plus will cost $300 there).
