LG Optimus U going to U.S. Cellular

The LG Optimus entry-level Android handset makes it to U.S. Cellular in the form of the LG Optimus U.

There was the LG Optimus T for T-Mobile, the Optimus S for Sprint, the Optimus M for MetroPCS, and now U.S. Cellular has its own in the form of the LG Optimus U (Verizon has the LG Vortex, which is in the same family of phones but doesn't share the Optimus moniker).

The entry-level Android phone shares the same specifications as those other handsets, with Android 2.2, a 3.2-inch touch screen, a microSD card slot, Wi-Fi, GPS, and more. Aside from the usual Google apps, it also comes preloaded with U.S. Cellular's own voice-guided navigation system. The LG Optimus U will be free--yes, free--after a two-year contract and a $80 mail-in rebate.
