LG Nexus 4 outed in new photo dump, report says
The device in the images appears to be a remodeled LG Optimus G, following earlier rumors making the same claim.
A Web site in Belarus has posted images of what it claims is the upcoming LG Nexus 4.
The site, Onliner (translate), today said it has obtained an LG Nexus 4 unit and released several pictures to prove it. The image appears to show a device that looks similar to the LG Optimus G, but not exactly the same. According to the site, the handset comes with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 2GB of RAM, and an 8-megapixel camera. The display measures 4.7 inches.
Nearly all the specs mentioned in the post follow earlier rumors surrounding the Nexus 4. According to those reports, the device would come with a big display and look similar to the Optimus G. Those rumors also said the handset would be the first to usher in Android 4.2, a new software version that's expected to be released soon.
However, Onliner says the model it obtained, which it calls the LG E960, is running Android 4.1.2 and not 4.2. Whether that means it's not the long-rumored Nexus 4, however, remains to be seen.
If the Nexus 4 exists -- and it's increasingly looking like it does -- the device might just be one of the worst-kept secrets in the mobile market. Just yesterday, the device appeared in U.K. retailer Carphone Warehouse's inventory system. That came after several reports offered up the device's possible specs.
Google's Nexus program is designed to combine the latest and greatest Android flavor with high-end smartphones. Samsung and Asus have most recently benefited from the increased attention Nexus devices receive.
