iPhone 4S drops to £19 a month on Virgin Mobile

The two-year-old mobile is now available free for just £19 a month -- that's the cheapest you'll find it in the UK!

If you're looking for a bargain this Christmas, you may have just found it. Virgin Mobile has dropped the price of the iPhone 4S to just £19 a month, with no upfront cost for the handset.

The next cheapest I can find it for is £22 over at Carphone Warehouse. And £3 a month isn't to be sniffed at. Though as ever with these deals, there are some caveats.

To take advantage of the offer, you'll have to be a Virgin Media cable customer. You won't get a fantastic number of minutes or text messages thrown in for your cash, either. Your £19 a month will get you 100 minutes, 250MB of data, and unlimited free calls to other Virgin Mobile handsets. You'll have to sign up to a two-year contract, too. By the time you come to the end of your contract, the iPhone 4S will be four years old, which is ancient for a mobile device. So if you want the latest handset, steer clear of this deal.

But if you're looking for an Apple mobile, and don't want to shell out for a 5S or 5C, it could well be worth a look.

The 4S only comes in an 8GB version. It's pretty small by today's standards, with a 3.5-inch screen -- most mini versions of flagship handsets are bigger than that nowadays. Image-wise, it has an 8-megapixel camera with an LED flash, and can record video in 1080p HD at 30fps.

The battery will last for eight hours of talking over 3G, or if you're browsing, it'll last six hours, or nine hours over Wi-Fi.

Is £19 a month a good deal for an iPhone 4S? Let me know what you reckon in the comments, or over on our Facebook page.
