iMessage not working for iPhone and iPad after iOS 7
Apple users are complaining that since the iOS 7, missives from iMessage on their iPhone and iPad aren't getting through.
Looks like iMessage is messed up. Apple users are complaining that since the iOS 7 update, they can't get their message across as missives from their iPhone and iPad aren't getting through.
"Phew I thought everyone hated me but iMessage was not working," says blogger Brian Lam, as users report their messages are delayed or not sent at all.
The system status page for Apple services, stores, and iCloud shows green lights across the board, including iMessage -- despite Twitter and Apple support communities filling up with people struggling with the app.
Some have followed the advice of The IT Crowd and found that turning it off and on again fixes the issue. If you're having problems, try going into Settings, then Messages, then turning off iMessage. Go to Settings, then General, then Reset, and Reset Network Settings. When that's done, go and turn iMessage back on.
If that doesn't work, it looks like you'll have to wait for a proper fix from Apple, which has yet to officially acknowledge the problem. "I've reset phone, turned iMessage on and off, reset network settings. Still cannot send a single iMessage," laments tech wonk MG Siegler, "4 days and counting."
Or alternatively... "Try WhatsApp," advises the level-headed Stuart Houghton, because "It's the iMessage of the COMMON MAN."
Like most software updates, iOS 7 hasn't been without hiccups, including a bug that let you bypass the lock screen. The first iOS 7 bugs have been tidied up by the most recent update, to iOS 7.0.2.
