Huawei next up, with smartwatch planned for Mobile World Congress

The company won't offer any details on the device until it reportedly comes to Barcelona later this month.

Huawei could be the next company to show off a smartwatch.

Huawei is expected to unveil a smartwatch at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona later this month, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday. Huawei, which will also show off new smartphones at the event, declined to provide details on any of the devices it plans to unveil at MWC, according to the Journal.

Wearables made a splash at the Consumer Electronics Show last month, as several companies announced plans to launch smartwatches and other wearable products. If and when Huawei joins the smartwatch fray, the company will be competing against Samsung's Galaxy Gear, the Pebble Smartwatch, and countless small firms trying to make it in wearable. There is also talk of Apple launching its own iWatch later this year.

Mobile World Congress will kick off February 24. As always, CNET will be there to cover every last minute of the show.
