Goophone wastes no time launching a Galaxy S5 lookalike

While the device doesn't match the spec of Samsung's new Galaxy S5, it looks essentially the same and retails for $300.

Goophone, a company that has made a name for itself by building smartphone lookalikes, is at it again.

Just days after Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S5, Goophone has launched a lookalike. Appropriately named the Goophone S5, the device has a 5-inch 1080p display, 13-megapixel rear-facing camera, and runs Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). Although its specs might not match those of the higher-end Galaxy S5, the handsets look nearly identical.

Goophone's online store currently lists the S5 as out of stock. Customers looking for other lookalikes, however, can pick up the Goophone i5S for $160 or the Goophone i5C for $120. Goophone has also carried the Galaxy S4 lookalike, Goophone S4.

Samsung announced the Galaxy S5 earlier this week at an Unpacked event during Mobile World Congress. It plans to launch the handset in April.
