Google is trying to make good on the Pixel delays.
The company has struggled to meet demand for its phone, leading to long wait times for eager customers. In exchange, the company is offering $50 in credit to its Google Play store. Reddit users got an email saying their credit would arrive (also via email) once the phone was delivered.
Google confirmed that the emails went out last Thursday and that customers should expect their Pixels this week.
The Pixel and Pixel XL are the first phones for which Google had taken full control of the development process. Previous Google "flagship" phones fell under the Nexus brands and were considered joint partnerships with the company's manufacturer allies. While HTC constructed the Pixel phone, it's essentially a silent partner.
