Rumor has it that Napster's been suffering in a market that includes more than 300 online music sellers, including the successful iTunes Music Store. If Napster is indeed hurting, a Google acquisition might be the boost it needs, since the Napster brand name is still powerful. Google, which recently launched a video store and is getting its wealthy hands into everything, should benefit in an online music world that, while intensely competitive, is still in its early stages of development.
