Once upon a time, and not too long ago, today's deal would have cost you $59.99.
This is an 1,800mAh power bank, meaning it probably won't fully recharge any modern phone -- but it will supply ample backup power for those times when you need it.
Here's what I love about this thing, aside from the fact that it comes from a premium brand: The Energi has folding wall prongs, so when it's time to recharge, you just plug it into a wall outlet. All mobile chargers should work that way, because otherwise you need a USB cable and a wall plug, or at least a decently powered USB port.
What's more, the Energi stows a Lightning cable -- one more less-thing-to-pack. Not an iPhone user? There's a USB port for charging other kinds of devices, though obviously you'll need a cable for that.
In other words, this is very close to the perfect mobile charger. Yeah, I wish it had more juice to spare, but it's five bucks, people.
Techrabbit also has a deal on another great Tylt product: the Energi 5K+ Battery Pack for $19.99 shipped. This one has built-in cables for both Lightning and microUSB, and it squeezes a 5,200mAh battery into it's extremely slim frame.
Ah, but no wall prongs, so you'll have to recharge it the old-fashioned way. Still, this model once listed for $99.99!
Finally, if you're a Chrome user and don't mind installing the Wikibuy extension (something on my to-do list to write about), you may be able to nab the Tylt Energi 3K+ for a remarkable $4.74 shipped. (This appears to come from an Ebay seller, so I have no idea what kind of inventory is available. Might be hundreds, might be two. I stumbled upon this and felt it was worth sharing.) This one has a 3,000mAh battery and just the Lightning cable.
Decisions, decisions! These are all amazing deals on mobile chargers that would originally have cost you significantly more. Your thoughts?
Bonus deal: My crusade to prevent your smartphone from killing you continues with another style of car mount: Vansky's universal gooseneck car-charger mount can be yours for $10.99 shipped when you apply discount code M4WGAV98 at checkout. Regular price: $14.99. This one plugs into your cigarette lighter, supplies a pair of 2.1A USB ports and secures your phone inside a spring-loaded mount. It's not ideal for extra-large phones, which tend to get a little wobbly on that gooseneck, but for medium and small models it's a great (and affordable) two-birds-one-stone solution.
Bonus deal No. 2: I've said it before, I'll say it again: If you own a compatible Samsung smartphone, you owe it to yourself to buy a Samsung Gear VR headset. It originally listed for $99.99; for a limited time, and while supplies last, A4C has the Samsung Gear VR and Galaxy S6 earphones for $49.99 shipped. Surprisingly, these are new, not refurbished, making this the official best-deal-yet for this top-rated VR headset. And speaking of Samsung phones, stay tuned for what is quite possibly the best Galaxy S7 deal to date. Coming tomorrow to a Cheapskate near you...
