Get a Binatone wireless Skype headset for $21.99

Great for gamers and long-distance callers, this headset normally runs $35. And it comes with three months of unlimited calling.

Talk is cheap, especially when it happens over Skype. When you call another Skype user, whether one town over or halfway around the world, it costs you nothing (except what you're already paying for Internet service, natch). And if you're calling a landline or mobile phone, the rates are dirt-cheap.

Of course, it's not always convenient to sit at your PC during a call. That's one reason to consider a wireless headset, which would allow you some freedom of movement while you chat up distant friends and relatives.

Like this one: For a limited time, Luzy's Storage Place (via Amazon) has the Binatone wireless Skype headset for PCs for $21.99. That's after applying coupon code ZXLKYC8C at checkout. Shipping is free for Prime subscribers, otherwise it adds $5.74.

That price includes a three-month Skype subscription that's good for unlimited calls to any phone in the US and Canada, an $8.49 value.

The headset features padded ear cushions, an adjustable boom mic, and a USB-rechargeable battery that's good for up to six hours of talk time, according to Binatone.

It connects to your PC or Mac by way of a USB dongle that establishes a 2.4GHz wireless connection, which should allow you to roam pretty much anywhere in your house, same as with a cordless phone.

One thing to note: According to the product description, the headset is also compatible with smartphones and tablets, though I'm not sure how that's possible unless it also comes with a cord (which doesn't seem to be the case). My guess: listing error.

Needless to say, a headset like this is good not just for Skype calls, but also for games that support chat. ("Eat hot lead, noob!")

Although the Binatone has just a few user reviews, they're mostly very positive. I haven't found this same headset for less than $35 elsewhere, so if you're in the market, $22 out the door is hard to pass up.

Bonus deal: In my experience, one-day-only Microsoft Store deals tend to sell out in a hurry. As of right now, however, the Microsoft Store has the Asus VivoBook X200CA 11.6-inch touchscreen laptop for $199, shipped. (It's also available in brick-and-mortar Microsoft Stores at that price, while supplies last.) The Celeron processor means it's no speed demon, but overall this might be an ideal entry-level laptop for a student. Update: As expected, it's very much sold out.
