Steve just announced a Mac Mini based on the Intel Core Solo (single processor). He says it's 2.5 to 3 times faster than the G4; will also offer a dual-core version; is 5 times faster than PVS; has Gigabit Ethernet, FireWire, and four USB ports, more audio inputs; and is quiet. Adding FrontRow, it's a Media Center Mac (my words). Now it has a remote control; the IR sensor is on the front of the Mac. There's a new Shared Music feature in iTunes using Bonjour (formerly Rendezvous), which grabs content from nearby Macs. It has the capability for shared videos, photos, and so on, of course. It can stream TV downloads between machines, as well, and an update to Front Row will be available this week. There's a single processor, 512MB, 60GB drive for $599 and a dual processor, 1.67GHz, 80GB, superdrive for $799, both available now. --more to come.
