FIFA 14 on iPhone and Android out now, download is free
EA's popular kickabout simulator is free-to-play, meaning you'll be paying for in-game transactions if you choose.
FIFA 14 is kicking off on smart phones and tablets, with EA's popular kickabout-simulator now available to download on iPhone and Android.
The game promises 'intuitive touch controls' and features over 600 licensed footie teams, as well as 34 stadiums and commentary in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.
FIFA 14 is free to download, but EA hopes you'll splash out cash on in-game purchases, like new modes or virtual currency.
Some gamers are frustrated by publishers' increasing affection for in-game purchases, which can make a game feel difficult or frustrating when you've not paid to unlock any bonuses.
On the other hand, the free-to-play system does let you play FIFA 14 for free. If you have the stamina to enjoy the game without succumbing to the temptation of in-game purchases, you can get weeks of enjoyment without handing over a single penny.
FIFA 14 will shortly be released on the Xbox 360, Wii U and PlayStation 3, and is also set to land on Microsoft and Sony's new consoles -- the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
To tempt gamers, Microsoft has been offering free copies of the game when you pre-order the 'day one' edition of its new console, which is currently sold out on Amazon. Microsoft had previously implied that the game would be free with every pre-order, but it seems now that's not the case.
