Easier downloads on Java phones

Owners of the first Java cell phone in the United States can now download software onto their phones without having to use a personal computer, Motorola and Nextel Communications announced this week. When the phones were first introduced, users first had to download software onto a computer, then onto the phones. This week, the two companies introduced "over the air" downloading for Motorola phones i85s, i50sx and i55sr bought after August. These same model phones bought before August will need a software upgrade, available for free at the Nextel Web site.
