AT&T employees file discrimination suit

Employees of AT&T are moving to take legal action against the long-distance phone giant, law firm Leeds, Morelli & Brown announced Thursday. The firm said it is reviewing claims from 150 employees who say they have experienced age, disability, gender or racial discrimination from AT&T management or co-workers. About 60 employees have filed charges with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the first step in a class-action lawsuit. The firm added that 25 percent of the plaintiffs have been fired by AT&T. AT&T spokeswoman Cindy Neale said the company has not been served with any such charges. "AT&T has a strong and long-standing commitment to diversity in the workplace," said Neale. "It is a company policy that we treat all employees with dignity and respect."
