Cheyenne Software will debut a Disaster Recovery Option for its popular ARCserve backup product this week.
The new disaster recovery feature, running over Microsoft Windows NT and Novell NetWare, lets an administrator recover data after a server crashes using boot disks to reconstruct the configuration of the server. The disks contain all the information necessary for the reboot process, including drivers.
The company will also announce JETserve for NetWare, an image backup tool that can store more than 70 gigabytes of data per hour, according to company officials. The product includes Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID,) a software feature for fault tolerance. The product also includes a disaster recovery option similar to the add-on for ARCserve.
Cheyenne will also announce InocuLAN 4.0 for Windows NT, the latest version of its antivirus tool. It includes a tool that scans for viruses in real-time.
Cheyenne officials said that next financial quarter the company would announce enhancements to ARCserve that will let administrators backup new portions of files online. ARCServe will also get Web-based management enhancements. Also in the works is a strategy to protect and backup the desktop.
