According to sources reporting to AppleInsider, Apple has begun production on TV advertisements to promote the iPhone 5 that will not be ready until the first week of October.
Combating rumors of the iPhone 5 release date have placed its debut at the end of September or beginning of October, with October 7 being the most popular line of thinking. According to an AT&T executive, the phone company will be ramping up its operations over the next couple months.
Last year saw rumors of a FaceTime advertisement being filmed to promote the newest feature on the iPhone 4 well before the iPhone 4 release date in the summer. FaceTime turned out to be one of the key features for the iPhone 4.
The outlet reports that Apple's once again using TBWA Chiat\Day, part of the same agency that created Apple's famous "1984" advertisement used to introduce the company's first Macintosh computer. Following that commercial, Apple switched over to BBDO Worldwide for advertising, before reuniting with TBWA Chiat\Day in late 1997.
That Apple would be working on the advertising component ahead of announcing its next device should come as no surprise. The company has a long history of pushing out massive media campaigns on the same day products are first introduced, as well as premiering them during press briefings.
How should Apple market the iPhone 5? What feature is most likely going to be highlighted? Let me know your suggestions and thoughts in the comments!
