Purported marketing image for new flagship smartphone leaks out the night before device's unveiling.

A little more than 12 hours before LG is expected to take the wraps off its G2, the first press image of the company's next flagship smartphone has allegedly leaked out.

A purported marketing image of the smartphone, which incidentally displays the time and date of Wednesday's big reveal, was obtained and tweeted by evleaks Tuesday afternoon. The device's front sports the standard speaker grill and three capacitive buttons, while the back cover features what appears to be a volume rocker arm situated beneath a rear-facing camera.

CNET has contacted LG for comment on the image and will update this report when we learn more. The South Korean electronics giant has been prepping for the G2's debut for more than a month, announcing weeks ago that the new smartphone would dispose of the Optimus branding for the new "G premium brand."

While the company hasn't revealed all the details of the new device yet, there have been plenty of leaked tidbits of information. And many expect the new device to use a quad-core Snapdragon 800 CPU, Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, a 13-megapixel rear camera, and come with 2GB RAM.

The company is expected to unveil the device at 11 a.m. ET / 8 a.m. PT during an event at the Lincoln Center in New York. CNET will be there to cover all the details with a live blog, pictures, and, of course, a hands-on video. Be sure to check back about half-hour before the event begins for the live blog.
