IBM on Friday said it has completed the $1.3 billion takeover of Internet Security Systems. The Atlanta-based company is now part of IBM Global Services' Infrastructure Management Services organization. ISS builds network protection products and services, including intrusion detection and monitoring tools.

IBM announced the agreement to acquire ISS on Aug. 23. The companies have been working together since 1999. IBM said it plans to expand sales and development of the ISS Proventia products and ISS security services, integrating capabilities with IBM products and services when applicable and developing new offerings over time. Tom Noonan, former CEO of ISS, continues to lead the organization as general manager.
