HTC Status announced for AT&T and Facebook fanatics
Sporting a new name, the HTC Status Facebook phone is ready to hit AT&T shelves this summer. Like or dislike?
The recent rumblings about the AT&T-bound HTC ChaCha were right, as the two companies made their friendship official today via Facebook.
Rebranded as the HTC Status, the Android 2.3 Gingerbread device has a dedicated Facebook share button that lets you instantly post things to the social networking site, such as status updates, photos, and videos.
You can use the button to check in to places, post news links, and even share what music you're listening to. There's also a chat widget that shows you when your friends are online, so you can instant-message with them.
The smartphone features a 2.6-inch, 480x320-pixel touch screen with a full QWERTY keyboard and HTC's latest Sense user interface, including the new lock screen. It also has a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, a front-facing VGA camera, and an 800MHz Qualcomm MSM7227 processor.
Pricing and release date were not revealed at this time, though the smartphone is due out this summer. AT&T and HTC said it will post these details on its Facebook page when ready.
