Yahoo Music--the service formerly known as Launch

The streaming-music channel has been rebranded, as Yahoo wants all its music products and services to operate under a single brand.

Yahoo has renamed its online music service Yahoo Music.

The service had been operating under the brand name Launch, which was acquired by Yahoo in 2001. But now, Yahoo wants to showcase all its music products and services under a single brand, the company said. The service already has begun operating with a new logo.

Yahoo Music offers streaming audio, music videos, Internet radio and news covering various genres of music.

In the coming months, the new brand will be rolled out to international Web sites currently operating under the Launch name, including Yahoo en Espanol and sites in Europe and Australia, the company said.

The company recently formed Yahoo Media Group, putting together several Yahoo properties, including games, news, sports, finance, movies, and music services Launch and Musicmatch.

"The Yahoo Music brand will allow for deeper integration across the Yahoo network, as we continue to develop new initiatives to expand our music services for consumers around the world," Dave Goldberg, vice president at Yahoo Music, said in a statement.
