Now TV 4oD app brings Homeland, Peep Show and more

The £10 set-top box has added Channel 4's catch-up service to its app roster.

Now TV, Sky's £10 set-top box that streams TV to your telly, has added 4oD to its roster of apps.

Channel 4's TV service follows iPlayer and Demand 5 onto the tiny box, as well as live and on-demand telly from Sky channels like Sky Atlantic and Comedy Central.

Sky bundles its own selection of shows and channels onto Now TV via several subscriptions. For £5 per month you get Sky's entertainment pass, which will let you watch popular shows like Game of Thrones as it airs.

£10 per day gets you a Sky Sports pass, while £9 per month grants you access to Sky's trove of on-demand movies. Unlike these subscription bundles, 4oD is free to access on Now TV.

While there are plenty of ways to watch iPlayer and other streaming services, the Now TV box is a cheap way of turning an older TV into something capable of pumping programmes onto the big screen over the Internet. We gave it a whopping four and a half stars in our review earlier this summer.

If you're interested in other apps that Now TV has stuffed up its sleeves, a full list is available here (.PDF link). There's even a CNET app, if you fancy beaming our grinning mugs into your living room.

One app that Sky's box doesn't offer is Netflix, which is Sky's biggest rival in the hectic world of streaming TV, and offers an impressive wealth of on-demand goodies for £6 per month.

Would you give Now TV a try, or are you allied to Netflix? Let me know in the comments, or on our Facebook wall.
