The wait is over. PlayStation 4 owners can now stream HBO movies and shows right on their consoles. Sony on Tuesday announced the long-awaited launch of HBO Go on the PlayStation 4. The service had been available on both Sony and Microsoft's last-generation consoles and arrived on the Xbox One this past November. PlayStation 4 owners, however, were left waiting and hoping for a drawn-out 15 months.

The app is available now as free download in PlayStation Store. The service gives HBO subscribers access the company's entire library of shows, such as "The Sopranos" and "Game of Thrones," as well as a rotating selection of movies. While an HBO subscription through a participating cable or satellite provider is currently required to a access the app, the network plans to offer a streaming-only subscription package later this year.

Unfortunately, it appears not all cable providers are on board with the release of the app. As was the case with the PlayStation 3, Comcast subscribers don't have access to HBO Go on the PlayStation 4.
