Best pre-Black Friday deals you can get right now

Why wait? There are already some great deals out there -- without the need to wait in line at 4 a.m.

CNET editors pick the products and services we write about. When you buy through our links, we may get a commission.

It's no secret that Black Friday deals -- like Christmas decorations and pumpkin spice lattes -- seem to start earlier every year. But the upside of that is that you can cash in on some good bargains without peeking at your phone during Thanksgiving dinner or waiting in freezing temperatures for the doors to open at Best Buy.

To that end, we're collecting the best early deals here. Just know that Target's 15-percent-off-everything Cyber Monday sale, announced Nov. 21, might be worth waiting for.

We'll update this list as often as possible between now and Wednesday, Nov. 22.

Last updated: Nov. 22 at 3:11 p.m. PT with a $5 Steam Link, Roku Streaming Stick, Moto Mods, Moto phones, Logitech Harmony, 3DS downloadable games and a new cheaper PlayStation VR bundle! (The TCL, Logitech and Philips Hue deals appear to be done, sadly.)

Now playing: Watch this: Black Friday 2017 survival guide

Steam Link in-home streaming box for $5 ($45 off): You can think of the Steam Link like a wireless HDMI cable -- one that beams your PC games and even your entire Windows desktop to a TV across your house. (You can plug in a mouse, keyboard or gamepad to control them.) If you've got a great wireless router or can plug it into a physical ethernet cable, it can work phenomenally well. At $5 (plus $6 shipping), well... if I didn't already have two, I'd buy two right now.

See the Steam Link at GameStop

Roku Streaming Stick Plus for $50 ($20 off): This little HDMI dongle just won a CNET Editor's Choice Award for becoming our favorite streaming video gadget, bar none. It's fast, simple to use, and does both 4K and HDR video. Now there's a $20 discount on this brand-new gadget. What more could you want?

Moto Mods Incipio Offgrid battery pack w/ wireless charging for $10 ($70 off): Have a Moto Z, Z Force, Z Play, Z2 Force or Z2 Play phone? This magnetic snap-on battery pack adds an additional 2,200mAh of juice and both Qi and PMA wireless charging to your phone. We're not sure why AT&T is offering it at this closeout price, but get it while it lasts. (Note: You may have more luck with the deal in your browser's incognito mode.)

Verizon is also offering 50 percent off all Moto Mods, including the brand-new Polaroid InstaPrint ($100; normally $200), Smart Speaker with Amazon Alexa ($75; normally $150) and Hasselblad True Zoom camera ($125; MSRP $300 but often cheaper).

See the Incipio Offgrid at AT&T | See the 50 percent off Moto Mods at Verizon

Motorola Z2 Force at T-Mobile for $375 ($375 off): And if you're eager to try one of Motorola's modular phones, there's probably never been a better time. T-Mobile has the more powerful Z2 Force (with a shatterproof screen, dual cameras, but no headphone jack) for just $375 off-contract -- half the original price.

Know that the Z2 Force isn't easily ported from one carrier to another, though -- unlike the Z2 Play deal you'll see below.

Motorola Z2 Play unlocked for $400 ($100 off): While it doesn't have a killer camera or the fastest processor, the unlocked Z2 Play supports all US cellular carriers, has long battery life and a headphone jack, and you can get it now for $100 off the full retail price directly from Motorola.

Best Buy's also offering a Verizon-exclusive Z2 Play for just $8 a month.

Sony and Microsoft are duking it out this Black Friday... and they're starting ahead of schedule.

Sarah Tew/CNET

Xbox One S 500GB with Battlefield 1 for $200 ($50 off): This Xbox One S console price will dip to just $190 this Black Friday, but you can arguably already get a better deal today: Amazon is discounting a bundle that comes with multiplayer shooter Battlefield 1, typically $30-$40 by its lonesome, to $200 ahead of Black Friday. Why wait?

Update Nov. 21: While the Battlefield 1 bundle is still live, other bundles we previously listed here are now out of stock. You can see what they were here.

PlayStation 4 Slim 1TB for $200 ($100 off): Not to be outdone by Microsoft, Sony threw many of its best Black Friday deals live the weekend before Thanksgiving, most notably its PlayStation 4 Slim game console. It's a great streaming media box, a Blu-ray player, and of course a gaming machine -- though not as powerful as Sony's newer PS4 Pro, which plays the same games at higher resolution.

See the PS4 Slim at AmazonBest BuyGameStopTargetWalmartNeweggB&H PhotoCNET review of the PS4 Slim

PlayStation 4 Pro 1TB for $400 with Star Wars Battlefront II, Final Fantasy XV ($100 off): The only other deal we've seen on Sony's flagship game console is $350 at GameStop, and that won't go live until Black Friday. But this eBay deal (via reputable seller Newegg) throws in two free, pretty popular PS4 games for the same $400 you'd normally pay for the console.

Even if you consider that Final Fantasy XV will go on sale as cheap as $15 on Black Friday, it's still a pretty decent deal. Battlefront II is a brand new $60 game, and we haven't seen any planned discounts on the title.

See the PS4 Pro at eBay | CNET's review of the PS4 Pro

PlayStation VR for $200 ($100 off) or $100 off most PSVR bundles: And it's not just the game console that's on sale. Sony is taking $100 off the price off its virtual reality headset, the PlayStation VR -- on top of the previous price cut earlier this year. That means the original $500 headset can now be had as cheap as $200.

Note that the $200 model doesn't come with the PlayStation Camera you'll need to use it, so you'll have to buy that separately. At $300, you get the camera and a game, and the $350 bundles include a pair of motion controllers to reach out and grab things.

Starting at $200, Sony's VR headset is more affordable than ever.

PlayStation 4-exclusive games for $20 ($20 off): No need to wait for Black Friday to get these game deals, either:

PlayStation Network downloadable games 50 percent off: As of Nov. 21, you'll now find a lot of 50-percent-off deals (and more) on downloadable versions of games in the PlayStation Store -- including:

  • Mirror's Edge Catalyst for $5
  • Valkyria Chronicles for $13.50
  • Prey for $20
  • Rise of the Tomb Raider for $20
  • Final Fantasy XV for $20
  • Horizon: Zero Dawn for $20
  • Uncharted: The Lost Legacy for $20
  • The Witcher 3 for $20
  • Persona 5 for $30
  • The Evil Within 2 for $30
  • Wolfenstein II for $30
  • Yakuza 0 for $30

According to game deals junkie Wario64, you may need to add games to your cart to see the deals.

Nintendo eShop downloadable games: These deals went live Nov. 22 at Nintendo eShop. They're not doorbusters, but some good deals in here!

  • The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages for $3 (normally $6)
  • The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons for $3 (normally $6)
  • Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate for $12 (normally $30)
  • Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies for $10 (normally $30)
  • Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Spirit of Justice for $15 (normally $30)
  • Rhythm Heaven: Megamix for $15 (normally $30)
  • Shin Megami Tensai IV: Apocalypse for $30 (normally $50)
  • Star Fox 64 3D for $20 (normally $40)

Steam and Good Old Games PC gaming deals: They just went live too!

TCL S405 series

This TCL is one inexpensive TV.

Sarah Tew/CNET

TCL 55S405 55-inch Roku 4K TV for $400 ($200 off): The HDR picture quality on this 4K TV isn't the best we've seen, but considering it offers a 55-inch 4K screen with the best-in-class Roku smart TV operating system, this TCL is an easy thumbs-up at the price. Update: Gone.

LG OLED B7A 4K TV for $1,500 (55-inch) or $2,300 (65-inch): The polar opposite of the cheap TCL set above, these LG 4K OLED TVs have the best picture quality of any TV ever made, and they're now at the lowest price ever for an OLED TV. This is the time to buy, and you don't need to wait till Black Friday to get the deal. Just make sure you're buying from a reputable retailer with an excellent return policy.

Sony STR-DN1080 AV receiver for $400 ($200 off): With six 4K-compliant HDMI inputs and built-in compatibility with Bluetooth, AirPlay and Chromecast streaming, we loved the sweet-sounding Atmos-capable AV receiver at $600. You can now find it almost everywhere for 33 percent less.

Philips Hue White A19 Starter Kit (4-bulb) for $60 ($40 off): You'll need to sign into your Best Buy account for this deal to show up, but it's the lowest price we've ever seen on these excellent, popular and voice-assistant-friendly smart LED light bulbs. The two-bulb kit usually costs $70, to give you some context. Update: Gone.

The Bose QuietComfort 25. (3.5mm cable not pictured.)

Sarah Tew

Bose QuietComfort 25 noise-canceling headphones for $180 ($120 off): They're our favorite wired noise-cancelling headphones three years running, our favorite headphones for virtual reality, and generally quite expensive. But the Bose QC25 are seeing a truly deep discount ahead of Black Friday.

See the Bose QC25 at Amazon | Best Buy | Target | AdoramaCNET review of the Bose QC25

BeatsX for $100 ($50 off): They're not true wireless headphones like their cousins, the Apple AirPods, but with full noise-isolation and Lightning charging, the sweat-proof BeatsX headphones are a steal at one-third off their normal retail price.

See the BeatsX at Amazon | CNET review of the BeatsX

PlayStation Gold Wireless Headset for $65 ($35 off): A gamer favorite, Sony's own over-ear wireless stereo headset works with PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 consoles as well as Windows PC, and have a 3.5mm audio jack to connect to your phone, tablet and so on. They're on sale on Black Friday, but several retailers have pushed their deals live early.

See the PS Gold headset at Amazon | GameStop | Target | Walmart

Logitech G533 wireless headset for $65 ($35 off): These wireless PC gaming headphones do nearly everything right: sound quality, battery life and range. They're not necessarily the best you can buy, but at this price they're a steal. You'll need to log into a Best Buy account to see the deal  Update: Gone.

iPad Pro (10.5-inch, 64GB) for $500 ($150 off): Apple's entry-level iPad will be selling for just $250 at many retailers during the Black Friday weekend. But if you need the larger screen and stylus support of the Pro model, Micro Center is offering the 10.5-inch iPad for $150 off its normal price. The one catch: It's an in-store offer only. Update: Gone.

Logitech Harmony Smart Control with Harmony Hub for $65 ($65 off): Every so often, one of our favorite universal remotes for the money sees a killer sale, and it's that time again. Only this year, it's an even sweeter deal because the Harmony Hub now works well with the Amazon Alexa voice assistant. Here's how to set it up and what it can do.

See the Harmony Smart Control at Amazon | Best Buy

(Refurbished) DJI Osmo Mobile motorized camera stabilizer gimbal for $160 ($140 off retail price): A handheld stabilizer like the Osmo Mobile can make your photos and videos practically shake-free, even while walking down the street. It's refurbished, but DJI says that only means it was bought and returned by a previous owner within seven days of purchase, and it still comes with a one-year warranty.

Please note some iPhone 7 and 8 users complain their phone's stabilization interferes with the Osmo's stabilization, leading to jittery footage. That could be a dealbreaker for some.

Nvidia Shield TV for $150 or $170 ($30 off): It's one of the best streaming media boxes you can buy, but price is its Achilles' heel. Now, both versions (with or without the optional gamepad) are $30 cheaper.

Logitech G900 wireless / wired gaming mouse for $75 ($75 off): It's one of the best gaming mice ever made, and the CNET editor typing these words uses one every single day. And $75 is the best price we've ever seen, even if we've seen that price a couple times in the past. You'll need to log into a Best Buy account to see the deal. Update: Gone.

Logitech G502 Proteus Core wired gaming mouse for $30 ($50 off): If the G900 is too rich for your blood, check out the G502 instead. A great deal at $30. Again, log into your Best Buy account to see the deal. Update: Gone.

Gigabyte Brix Core i7 barebones cube PC for $250 ($150 off): Ever wanted to build a truly tiny PC, one that fits in the palm of your hand (assuming it's unplugged?) This Core i7 PC is one of the smallest ever made, at the lowest price we've ever seen offered.

See the Gigabyte Brix at Amazon

Overwatch: Game of the Year Edition for $30 ($30 off): The Pixar-esque animated shooter is one of our favorite online multiplayer games, and right now it's half-off for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

Baby Jogger 2016 City Mini GT stroller for $253 (roughly $100 off): OK, it's not exactly tech, but Amazon has this ultra-popular, rugged folding three-wheel stroller for its lowest-ever price, and it doesn't go on sale often. A CNET editor just bought one.
