It took two years for the first Pokemon games to come to the West after launching in Japan. Now, in a strange turning of the tables, Japan has had to wait patiently for two weeks as the world lost its collective mind over Pokemon Go.
That changed on Friday, with the game's Twitter account announcing that Pokemon Go has officially launched in The Land of the Rising Sun.
The game, developed by Nintendo and Niantic Labs, was first launched in Australia and New Zealand on July 6. It's since spread to the US and much of Europe.
Pokemon Go has been a tremendous success for Nintendo, being downloaded over 30 million times and doubling the company's stock value.
