EA brings 'Family Play' to Wii games

Electronic Arts has unveiled a "Family Play" system for novice players.

The Wii's intuitive controller has been heralded as one of the reasons behind the success of Nintendo's Wii console. But Electronic Arts has decided that the control system might be too complex for some, and has unveiled a "Family Play" system.

Wii versions of upcoming titles Madden NFL 08, NBA Live 08 and FIFA 08 will let players choose between two play modes: Advanced or Family. Advanced will give gamers complete control over all aspects of play, whereas Family mode will just allow gamers to control key actions, such as shooting, passing, snapping and throwing.

Advanced Play will utilize both the Wii remote and the Nunchuk controllers, while Family Play uses just the Wii remote. "It's like having an invisible helper on your team," EA said in a statement.
