Destiny drops Peter Dinklage as Ghost, new actor rerecords everything

Uncharted and Assassin's Creed's Nolan North is taking over.

One of Destiny's central characters, Ghost, has been recast.

"Game of Thrones" actor Peter Dinklage played the AI for the main game, but prolific video game voice actor Nolan North -- the voice of Nathan Drake from Uncharted and others -- is taking over.

Bungie hired North not only to play Ghost in September's Taken King expansion, but for the franchise overall. As such, all of Dinklage's voiceover has been wiped. North rerecorded everything.

The script, however, remains the same. It's unclear why Bungie elected to drop Dinklage, but some fans remarked that Dinklage's Ghost was too monotone.

In an interview with Game Informer, North specifically mentions bringing more "personality" to the character.

"I was really excited to do this role," North said. "You want to give him as much personality as the world will allow, without making it unbelievable. There's a fine line to walk there, and I think we found it."

The Taken King launches on September 15.
