Fujifilm updates lens road map for 2014, 2015
One new surprise, but sadly, there's also some schedule slippage.
Fujifilm gives X-series ILC owners five lenses to look forward to over the next 18 months. Although there's one welcome addition to the road map, two have slipped from their initial projected dates and one still doesn't have any specs at all.
The company added an XF90mm f2 R lens -- the "R" indicates there's an aperture ring -- a fast 135mm-equivalent lens that will likely be well-suited for portraits. That's currently scheduled for the first half of 2015.
The XF50-140mm f2.8 R OIS WR, a fast, weather-resistant lens with a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 75-210mm -- designed to pair with the similarly weather-resistant X-T1 -- is still on-target for the end of this year. Hopefully in time for winter in this hemisphere.
The lens that heretofore appeared on the road map as a generic "high speed wide angle lens" now has a name: XF16mm f1.4 R. It also has a projected date that's later than the previous projection of late 2014 -- it's now mid-2015.
Other delays include the XF16-55mm f2.8 WR lens moving to spring 2015 and the still-generic "Super Tele-Photo Zoom" lens from early 2015 to late 2015.
